Oxygen is our lifeblood, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy may improve a number of serious health conditions.
At The Guyer Institute, we offer HBOT to patients seeking the latest treatments to improve your life. Lori Rivera, our doctor of naturopathy, is the primary practitioner for this treatment.
Patients use hyperbaric oxygen therapy for chronic fatigue, to boost healing from injuries, to improve normal brain functioning after a concussion, and accelerate healing from a surgery or procedure.
“Time and again, patients with chronic fatigue tell me me how much better they feel after hyperbaric oxygen therapy,” Lori says. “It is a safe, enriching, and effective treatment.”
Healing doesn’t happen properly without appropriate oxygen levels in our tissues and cells. In many cases, such as circulatory problems, non-healing wounds, and post-stroke recovery, hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides this extra oxygen and its healing effects naturally.

It has minimal or no side effects.
At The Guyer Institute, HBOT allows patients to be in a 100% oxygenated environment. In the normal air, the oxygen level is 21%.
When you’re in the chamber, you feel and see it fill up with air. Patients feel a bit of pressure, similar to taking off or landing in an airplane.
“Most patients actually enjoy relaxing during the hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions,” Rivera says. “It eases the mind as the body is stimulated through the higher oxygen levels.
Many people just lie quietly and meditate on the plush pad. Others read, fiddle with their cell phones, listen to music, or even sleep.”
HBOT can:
• Enhance cellular renewal
• Support growth of new blood vessels and tissue
• Decrease swelling and inflammation
• Fight infections and boost the immune system
• Help metabolize some toxins
Prospective patients should know that Lori or another staff member is always there during the treatments to monitor you. Patients can be in constant view and communication.
Before having hyperbaric oxygen therapy at The Guyer Institute, we carefully go over your medical history and ask you to undergo a physical.
“I think a consultation is important before HBOT,” Rivera says. “We know there can be lots of questions, and luckily, we have the answers!”
The list of conditions for which hyperbaric oxygen therapy has shown positive results keeps expanding. We can tell you more about those in your consultation.
It’s not surprising that boosting oxygen levels has these natural healing effects. At the Guyer Institute, we’re always moving forward to maximize our patients’ health and well-being.
