Over 26 million Americans have been diagnosed with heart disease. Sadly, that is more than 10% of the population. For many, surgery is not an option. Fortunately for many of these patients there is a non-invasive treatment, outpatient treatment called EECP® Therapy. EECP® stands for Enhanced External Counter Pulsation. Approximately 80% of the patients who complete the course of EECP® therapy experience significant symptom relief that can last up to three years. During each hour long treatment, patients lie on a treatment table with large blood pressure like cuffs wrapped around their calves, thighs and buttocks. A continuous ECG is utilized so that the cuffs inflate while the heart is at rest and deflate just before the next beat. The sequential cuff inflation creates a retrograde pressure wave that increases blood flow to the heart. The rapid simultaneous deflation then decreases the heart’s workload. The treatment works to increase cardiac output, improve circulation, and aids in the development of new blood vessels. The treatment also functions to decrease circulating inflammatory markers and arterial stiffness. The Guyer Institute it proud to offer this therapy.
